Thinking of Aaron Swartz today & I’m stuck on this photo - he & OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (both circled) each scraped 1000s of docs but one did it to make the knowledge free for all while the other did it to make $$$$ through probabilistic plagiarism. The US DOJ only came after one of them & the other is feted by tech bros and executives.

Thank you Aaron for so much, for RSS, for Markdown, for Creative Commons and more. I’m sorry our society failed you.

If somebody buys "X" after it fails and renames it "Twitter", will news stories about the new company refer to it as "Twitter, formerly X, formerly Twitter"?

This past trip to the US the province loaned me a RAV4 hybrid so I could easily transport my parents.

I didn't think I would like it (I generally dislike SUVs, and I value fuel efficiency above most else) but it was super-comfortable, had all the collision annoyance features (radar cruise control, lane departure, etc.) and I was getting 40mpg!

Best of all, it was actually EASIER to get my parents in and out of the RAV4 than our Prius!

Not bad.

These colors don't run

... (They also don't blend so well)

THIS is the data that makes the expense worth it to the US:

With a few adjustments to the software, they now know definitively that a $4m Patriot missile can easily intercept a $10m "Invincible" Kinzhal.

Huh... I was worried about my angina

... but this seems worse.

I know it gets a lot of hate, but I've found my Cybertruck to be quite useful.
