Joshua TopolskyOne interesting side effect I just noticed is that when I think about opening twitter I am immediately filled with dread about how bad the discourse is going to be and when I think about opening Mastodon I'm.... vaguely hopeful? I know it may not last but it's a fascinating feeling.

The biggest problem with Twitter is that it overstayed its welcome. All of its issues stem from that.
TILvidsI like this take, it's similar to my experience. I've had some surprisingly very good discourses on Mastodon so far. I do hope that the decentralized nature of it will help keep this spirit going as things scale up.
