@joshuatopolsky I feel like every third post of mine here is a version of this. We’ve been saying “Twitter is bad” for years, but now we really know!
Also, if you go by the Fourth Law of Joshes — when multiple Joshes agree on a thing, that thing is as close to truth as we know — then who are we to say otherwise.
@joshuatopolsky When I have opened Twitter of late I've noticed how annoyed I suddenly feel. Like I didn't notice before because I had no non-algorithmic alternative to compare it to.
Could be some interesting research here for a psychologist.

And when it fades, it’s time to move to a new platform, which is what we probably should have all done in 2012 or so.
The biggest problem with Twitter is that it overstayed its welcome. All of its issues stem from that.
I like this take, it's similar to my experience. I've had some surprisingly very good discourses on Mastodon so far. I do hope that the decentralized nature of it will help keep this spirit going as things scale up.
