I think a second account (either on the same instance, or perhaps the same username on a different instance) which I will use only for politics discussion. Just need an easy way to "account" switch then I can delve in when the mood takes me but jump back to my happy place when I've had my fill.

You can post whatever you want but give people the option to say “not today thanks” You can post about films and sports with spoiler alerts or be as angry as you are about the state of politics without shouting in everyone’s face. I don't think anyone minds satire, news and debate, just you can more easily ignore it if you're burnt out and just want cats and old telly if the political stuff is CW'd and search for it easier if you want it.
