Rachel Happe 🐘@rwidome When I was the first social software analyst at IDC back in ~2007 I started a blog and got on Twitter (against the rules of my employment contract) and no one discovered either for months. When they did, it was my blog and I got a hand slap but I don’t think they ever figured out about Twitter while I was there. Made me chuckle.
Now, of course, almost all analysts are on social media.

They know I'm weird outside of the office, especially on TikTok (too many followers to be ignored and something I know a few of my coworkers are aware of), but if you stay congenial and professional, you're usually okay. Plus, I'm a dependable joke machine. Although I once got a gentle drubbing for sending a fairly harmless pun-laced email.
