The (green-ticked) Neil Gaiman
@yimidu if you click his profile, you’ll find a link to neilgaiman.com with a green highlight. That means he (or a designated substitute) has linked back to the profile demonstrating both are controlled by the same entity.
Here’s instructions on how you can set your own profile to be verified, no faceless corporation required. 🙂

@neilhimself If you link to his Mastodon profile from neilgaiman.com and put
rel="me"
in the href, Mastodon will put a green-check next to the SITE in the profile, confirming identity
I came here because you came here. ☺️
@liaizon First before we go any further, I just want to unambiguously state that [j/k] in the above post stands for ‘Just Kidding'.
Now, /all that said/,...
Unverified how/in what sense..? As we both well know for this past five years or so, the only form of ‘verification’ that we have here in Mastodon is the <rel="me"> attribute at an external website, and that 'verification' still seems to be active as is seen in the green text at Neil's Mastodon profile..?

@neilhimself Nice work using the meta-data link verification feature. I wish more people would (especially if they already have personal sites, blogs, etc they can easily cross-link).
Welcome to the Fediverse, Neil!
@neilhimself Welcome! There’s a whole bunch of SFF authors on wandering.shop, if you ever feel like visiting there. 🙂
