#introduction hello all! I just moved servers to have a local timeline full of social sciences' toots.
I'm a political scientist with a focus on comparative social policy. Currently, I'm working on microsimulations of social policy reforms with #EUROMOD and #Rstats (and have to use #STATA). In my ongoing PhD I research the political and institutional effects on family policy reforms. Sometimes I toot about Austrian politics. #polsci #socialpolicy #polisci
@fewohlgemuth That looks like a cool instance! I have just moved to fediscience, which I like as well right now. Very interdisciplinary and I like the random insights into very different fields on the local timeline. But a local timeline full of #socsci sounds cool as well. Although following the right hashtags (crucial here it seems) has worked well up to now as well for me... Lots to figure out on this fediverse but I like it 🤩 .
@mario_angst_sci Hi Mario, I'm also still trying to figure out the whole federation of servers thing. I think your Home timeline is full of the toots of the people you follow, the local timeline of those on your server and then the federated timeline with all listed public toots from all severs. So quite a lot to discover and to figure out.
@fewohlgemuth Yes, that's also how I understand it. I've found the tips in here: https://blog.djnavarro.net/posts/2022-11-03_what-i-know-about-mastodon/ really helpful to set up even more "timelines" following specific hashtags. Eg. I have one for policy studies stuff right now and one for rstats.
