I will admit that I don't know much about Mastodon at this point, but I guess I might as well make sure I'm here too given the amount of Twitter folks asking where they can follow me outside of Twitter - so, hi!
@tha_rami Heya :)
I keep coming back whenever a Twitterpocalypse is announced, and I keep bouncing off because the UX and the current connections I have just don't fulfill the same needs... But let's try yet another time.
@akien @tha_rami yeah, sometimes it feels a bit more “shouting into the void” if not enough friends are logged in at the same time. Hoping we can carry momentum, now, tho!
@akien @tha_rami Perhaps we have better luck this time.
@tha_rami Heyhey, Rami! If you’re looking to connect with folks, I recommend making an #introduction post and checking out others’ #introductions. In lieu of traditional universal keyword search (because there are a lot of interacting server instances), hashtags are the elements that propagate across instances so that likeminded folks can find one another. It’s a bit more “opt in.” Using tags for stuff you care about can help folks find you and you to find them!
@tha_rami It's definitely nice if you have thoughts with more than 280 characters. And it feels less like a Skinner box.
@tha_rami It's a bit confusing at first, definitely still some friction with the onboarding process, but I like the idea of it and hope it grows :)
@tha_rami heyo rami! good to see you, and i hope your flight back north went well.
@tha_rami hi Rami, good to see you back :) hope you stick around this time :D
@tha_rami Welcome to Mastodon, Rami! If you have any questions, people are sure to answer
@tha_rami 🙋‍♂️cool to see you here as well
@tha_rami Any possible momentum towards escaping the hellsite is good as far as I'm concerned.
@tha_rami Good to see you :-)
@tha_rami Yep! I'm here to be here and that's it for now lol. Who knows what 2023 will bring 🤣
@tha_rami glad to see you here :)
@tha_rami hi! As alternatives go, this doesn’t look too bad.
@tha_rami Welcome aboard! ⛴️ 👾

Some good links on the top of that post too.

@tha_rami Welcome, Rami! I'm new here too. So far, I've encountered nothing but lovely people.
@tha_rami Just made this account in case necessary. So here we are.
@tha_rami Mastodon feels clunky to use but I've given you a follow.
@tha_rami I like that you’re my first follow in here. Kinda sets the tone of what I want this place to be, and I’m excited about it.
@tha_rami great to see you here rami
@tha_rami So far, upsides: less ominous algorithm, more homely, more 'old internet' nostalgia, and I instantly felt more connected to the local community. Downsides: less discoverability in the wider network, need to put in more work to find stuff, need to backup account data yourself can't easily follow local feeds from multiple communities without multiple accounts. Liking it so far though, feels much more like what 'next gen' social media should be.
@tha_rami Hello! Yes, this place is confusing. >>
