HiFiScan is an open-source application that lets you either manually or automatically create an #EQ curve to compensate for your speakers or room frequency response in order to achieve a flat, neutral audio reproduction. There are well known commercial products that do this, so here's a #libre alternative:
https://github.com/erdewit/HiFiScan
It can export curves that can be imported into system-wide EQ software for Linux, Mac and Windows.

Here's a nice video explaining why you might want to use this tool:

Should You EQ Your Speakers?

@unfa this is amazing :) ive used the well known commercial product in the past and it has worked wonders every time. I suppose only some easily recommended hardware would be nice
@unfa This is insane! Just last week I discovered AutoEQ and now this. I can drop Sonarworks now.
@consint I need to check out AutoEQ! Can you share a link?
@unfa A nice tool, it seems! However, beware of the phase of the corrected frequencies, which the tool does not seem to take into account. In a room where the acoustics suffer from an unacceptable standing wave or floating echo defect, resulting in phase cancellation at the listening point, increasing this frequency will likely exacerbate the problem rather than correct it.
@unfa This type of tool is excellent for compensating for equipment control, but it should be used with caution when it comes to the listening room. It must be corrected by physical objects (absorber panels, diffusers, diffractors, etc.) before using spectral compensation. It seems to me that REW (RoomEqWizard) can do this. But knowing this, HiFiScan is still interesting to explore! Thanks for the info :)
@tourneriff REW looks interesting, but it's not libre software - the author reserved the exclusive right to distribute the software and there is no open license used.
Me being a libre software maniac, will stay with the FOSS options :)
@unfa so hope for a libre room analysis software !! 😇
@unfa I just set this up for my headset and I don't think my music has ever sounded good, nor have they ever had such a good bass response.
I used HiFiScan to get a flat response curve, and then tweaked my eq using AutoEQ's suggest values for my logitech g533 as a reference and it's so good. Thanks for the headsup @unfa
@unfa gah. *Sounded SO good.
didn't notice the error before you already liked it.
