So the current #JNU protest is currently being fought on the narrative set by the government and it's lackey media which is trying to show the issue is all about the subsidy given. We need to change that narrative.

1.#ElitistBJP is against good education of the poor.
2. #AntieducationBJP is destroying the education system in India.

The idea is to get a narrative which everyone in the country get behind. To bring back the focus to education and education of poor.

#ElitistBJP feeds salt and rice to poor kids learning.

#AntieducationBJP had allowed kids suicide across India to happen.

Keep the focus on education and how the current government has throttled education across India especially the POOR. Show them their #ElitistBJP is against the poor and then getting good education. They don't want the poor to study in good institute like #JNU or IIT so they are raising their prices.

The students at JNU are fighting for every poor kid in India.

We need to mobilise all students union across India across party lines to fight against the #ElitistBJP and #AntieducationBJP. Make it a fight for the education of the poor.

Localise the movement also by showing how #AntieducationBJP has failed education across India. From reducing the expenditure on education to providing salt and rice to eat for poor children.

We have our HEROS in the students of #JNU but the media and government has prevented from seeing that way.

The #jnuprotest is for every POOR kid who wants good EDUCATION in India and not just them.

Anybody who is against the #jnuprotest is an #ElitistBJP or #AntieducationBJP.
And that's what we need to keep calling them until there is full rollback.

@Vishsai
Education is the only means for us, to empower ourselves. By restricting it for elitists, it proves 'Knowledge threatens those in Power.' Aware citizens questioning Govts wrongful deeds are most feared.
Hidutvawaadi supremacists are using religious intolerance as a fuel to maintain their hegemony over citizens of this country.
Now, fight is for affordable higher education, to question low budgetary allocation for education & it's expenditure & #feesmustfall for all.
@Vishsai
To target student movements, govt has already hit hard education of underprivileged sections. JNU being at heart of political capital, is bearing the heat. Having said that, fire shall reach other universities as well.
But if Majoritarianism prevailed in other institutions & Student groups aren't united they will be silenced in no time. Student Unions across India must look beyond party lines to fight against oppressors as now, oppression is coming from all directions.

@BhavanaVarun True but how do we get our thoughts to the students union and make it more organized.

What is the next thing that we can do to achieve that?

@BhavanaVarun Instead of hindutvawaadi supremacist which are both positive terms to the common man, can't we use a term which is negative.
The term I have been using currently is Ravanaist\Ravanaism - followers of Ravana.

It shows those people are Hindu, evil and like Ravana who was responsible for destroying ashrams which were centers of education.

To have a word which is both negative, where the local person can make a connection as evil and make the soft Hindus think twice of nearing.

@Vishsai Don't go into too many jargons. What you are referring to as, will stigmatize it more. Hindutvaa is different than the core religion & those who know, know it very well. We are not going into it.
Think about strategies that one came up. If you are ready with it, ask local student groups to join. Think over it. Respect others views and take suggestion. Remember, identity matters & there must be room for inclusion without disregarding someone's caste, religion or gender.
@BhavanaVarun @Vishsai
I agree.
Call out Hinduttvvaaawaadis for what it is.
Why bring in Ravan in this ? 🤔

@KnottedBow @Vishsai

Narrative around myths is biased itself. Creating myths like fake news to undermine indigenous people & their movements. Stigmatizing 'Ravana' like 'Mahabali' serving brahmanical supremacy anyways. That's one of the root cause of thriving RW hatred.

Can't all see, We are demanding #JusticeForFathimaLatheef along with #JusticeForRohitVemula #JusticeForPayalTadvi.

Uptill when we'll remain stuck in baseless myths & serve their purpose?

@BhavanaVarun @KnottedBow @Vishsai India is becoming a theocratic, and often obscurantist state but imagining itself to be a modern and inclusive
@Vishsai all this plus the inherent hatred of the RSS for any learning that does not emerge from "bunch of thoughts" type of lack of learning.
@Vishsai Perfectly put yet needs simplification.
1. Average person is logical and smart, may not be fluent with written or spoken word.
2. RW took the space vacated by elitism.

@Battrebeet Localising it is one way I was hoping that can simply that ShikshaVirodhiBJP and having issues which the local people connect to.

To take the glare of negativity away from the JNU protest and shift it.

Any other suggestion changes am listening on how we can make it simpler.

@Vishsai appeal to them without calling out their political affiliations. People are smart, they understand.

@Battrebeet The reason I added BJP was that
1. You need an entity to take the blame. Have a single one is better as when left to people they can even turn the conversation to congress.

2.I am hoping that by focusing on BJP it will give other political parties a reason to join and make it a pan nation movement.

3. Right now the thinking is to associate everything to BJP. The falling education, economy, farmers distress and failing consumption all back to BJP. So there is a repetition.

@Vishsai cool. Did your idea get traction? If not then rethink.
@Battrebeet OK will do so. Thank you for your suggestions.
@Vishsai @Battrebeet #jnuprotest reminds us that access to good education is a life changer. Subjects we study may not matter as much as the opportunity to examine thoughts independently, for their own sake. What the privileged take for granted, is a revelation & new world for kids not so fortunate. Denial of education, is one means of keeping the underclass subservient. Arjuna & Drona's treatment of Ekalavya is replicated by HRD's treatment of #JNU's students. Jai Hind, Jai Bhim.
@sanjayuvacha elitism is the core issue. RW and LW have paddled their issues and perspectives. Unlike yours most of the handles were happy to just ignore a common man's thought. None had the patience to elucidate. How can one ignore years of social conditioning? @Vishsai
@Battrebeet @sanjayuvacha @Vishsai hi guys i wrote rant relating to this yesterday, please give honest feedback if you read, thanks! https://mastodon.social/@forkedtongue7/103141862438554992
@forkedtongue7 Makes sense. But for some it is a vision of some Hindu Utopia that is going to be created by Modi that has resulted in people voting for him even though they were suffering. All this suffering is temporary and necessary for a brighter future. @Battrebeet @sanjayuvacha
@Vishsai @Battrebeet @sanjayuvacha that's totally true and part of the modi narrative, it's not even utopia, per them utopia exited before british and mughals, we just have to "take" it back
@Vishsai We cannot lose JNU. It is required for the very sanity and safety of country and constitution. Never studied there, but have friends who did... Right to Education is enshrined in the constitution, but that terrifies this gov't because an educated person will ask questions, rustle up arguments and charge those around into questioning status quo. All these are the hallmarks of a vibrant, true democracy.
@KayKap Those were my thoughts on how we can change the narrative from JNU's Subsidy given to government being elitist and anti education. Haven't a clue on how to make it practical.
@Vishsai Can probably use JNU contribution to various sectors, maybe using a %tile scale; how many JNU-ites in the civil services, how many in other sectors... Do we have that kind of data...
@KayKap @Vishsai I have come across several Phd. scholars (pursuing presently).
@Vishsai How many went on to represent India on the world stage; how many created an impact there... might help...
15 Noted JNU Alumni Who Have Proudly Represented India Nationally & Internationally

Alumni that made the country proud!

@Vishsai This list should be plastered all over JNU. A nice poster to be made of current Foreign Secy and Dy. Natl Sec Advisor. JNU alumni should be asked to speak up. Alternatively, but this should not need to be prompted. Well placed JNU alumni should step forward with funding help
@KayKap True but how do we get that message out there. Am not from JNU not even in the same state.
@Vishsai Neither am I... but I would say... yes... pretty tough times today but JNU like India and its constitution cannot be killed so easily... Let's reach out... for all we know some bright sparks @ JNU are already figuring this out...

@KayKap will try to disseminate this info to the JNU students whom I know.

@Vishsai

@CharismaticSal_ Thank you so much. Is it possible to share my toot also if you think it can help them.
@KayKap

@Vishsai sure, will do.. But why to thank, I think all the sane citizens shud support the cause and contribute even thoh it's little— we need to save this university for our future generation.

@KayKap

@CharismaticSal_ For a second felt lost and then suddenly hope arrived.

@KayKap

@Vishsai @CharismaticSal_ Hope is eternal... is always there, just look a little deeper or farther around, you will find it... It is hope that make you get up and walk, hope that the next will be better...

@KayKap I was jst chatting with a student who submitted her thesis and waiting for viva.. When I asked her about the ppl who are in public sector she said our 'finance minister ' I was ded🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Vishsai

@Vishsai forwarded the whole thread. She started thanking me and all of us out here. She said she wud forward to all her juniors, student members and their faculty members... Will wait for her response and let u know! 😊

@KayKap

@CharismaticSal_ @Vishsai Thank you. And all the very best to all of you at JNU... we stand with you, each in our own ways and collectively...
@KayKap @CharismaticSal_ @Vishsai స్వాతంత్ర్యం ప్రజాస్వామ్యం శాంతి అభ్యుదయం సోషలిజం .( Independence democracy peace development and equality), which BJP RSS never accept students always expect. That's why all this mess
@Dayakar @CharismaticSal_ @Vishsai Basic fundamentals of human rights: Independence democracy peace development and equality... We all expect them... We will get them...

@KayKap yes... InshaAllah... Those who have the potential to grow must and shud grow irrespective of the financial position of the family.

Big eg. is Sundar Pichai, he hails from a lower middle class family and c where he is now. If the current proposed JNU policy is to be applied then, no bright students from lower income group will rise or come up. Such bright students will perish and this is what the ruling party exactly wants.

@Dayakar @Vishsai

@CharismaticSal_ It is also our duty to help them grow, to contribute / do whatever we can...We can think on those lines also, even as we join the JNU-ites in fighting the good fight... @Dayakar @Vishsai
@CharismaticSal_ Yay. When I started the thread, it was to put my thoughts as words and hoped somebody connected might read it but never believed it will reach them to be honest. So thank you for that. I don't know if it will be of any actual help but there are a lot of people with #JNU supporting their cause. @KayKap

@Vishsai when something is done with a clean heart,and with enthusiasm that clicked and eventually, success.

Thanks for starting this thread and it has already reached the concerned ppl. Hope it gets clicked and this becomes a success. Hoping for the best! 👍

@KayKap

@CharismaticSal_ Thank you so much... @Vishsai We might just be repeating things they already know in which case our apologies...
@KayKap Agreed @CharismaticSal_ if they feel there is something we can do you can communicate here.
