The reason why the government doesn't give specifics is because in a country like India with a million customs and a billion belief systems coexisting, imposing "uniformity" is a pipe dream.
Either you have the freedom to believe in your own customs or you don't. If you have the freedom, then others have it too even if their customs might be different from yours
So HOW do you impose uniformity?
The "debates" happening in India about Uniform Civil Code are so funny.
People are arguing about a policy that literally doesn't exist.
Nobody knows what it is, everybody has their own ideas depending on their level of privilege in society, and yet nobody really asks the question: "Wait but wtf is the UCC that is being proposed by the government? Are there any specifics?"
And our TV media just seems to run with it. Because if nothing exists, then you can give endless arguments about nothing.
Sometimes I forget that it's impossible to have civil conversations on the hellsite.
Every once in a while, some 2 bit rando comes along to remind me of that by getting unnecessarily personal and trolly.
2006 - 2022: Corporate content hosts are so cheap and easy that no one has an incentive to learn to self-host content, and people who were previously self-hosting content move over to big "social" platforms
2022 - … : Platforms close off in every imaginable way and start taking every opportunity to extract rents from users, benefits that originally got people to move over now gone, but the network effects are such you can no longer switch to open alternatives or convince other people to do so
Hello there!
I'm currently a Creative Director (Non-Fiction) at India's largest podcasting network: IVM Podcasts
In the past, i have dabbled with writing speeches for Members of Parliament, doing legislative research, journalism, hosting YouTube shows on civic education and have written a book.
I make podcasts now and I'm trying to grow my personal YouTube presence as well.
hey MastIndia, how do you guys socialize?
Im wondering if i can afford deleting my remaining BigTech accounts but i know i dont have any other way to have my existence acknowledged by my surroundings (given the isolation such deletion would bring about).
I know the socialization really differs from place to place within india itself but i just want to hear on it. Im getting a little exhausted (and probably desperate).
