Why is the every third toot on my TL a link to Birdsite? -_-

Came here to escape that blasted thing. If you want to share stuff from there, please do screenshots.

Links will just lead to the app and start the whole "check notification > check TL > tweet > check notification" cycle.

@Memeghnad I literally said the same thing today . I now have a filter to hide / stop bird site from showing up . May be if more people filter , the bird site content grabs will peter out
@Memeghnad @dearthofsid I have exactly the same thought. Maybe it’s still a transition phase and a lot of content that people want to share is still generated on the birdie. That said folks on mastodon should make an extra effort to get their fans/ followers over here. Even going to the extent of deciding by when they would want to switch over completely to this egalitarian platform
@Memeghnad the transition, even if it actually takes place, will take time.
@Memeghnad We already had this problem here for years.There are too many people who use both and think it's a good idea to link to the other side (it isn't!) πŸ˜• But wait until you meet some of the crossposters...I don't want to scare you but that are some of the worst spammers here.They're automatically repeating all Twitter posts of one profile into Mastodon,often with automatic backlinks and most of them don't care about the reactions they get here 😒
@Memeghnad
If you do a screenshot, please add text to the description for those who can't read the images!

Usually i Filter Twitter links from my Timeline But if i find it interesting i use Nitter https://github.com/SimonBrazell/nitter-redirect

Why not delete the Twitter app, or even the Twitter account?

Mostly it's due to mirror bots or crossposters. You might unfollow/filter them. Others can find it interesting, just like any other info source.

@Memeghnad I agree. Let's not use links/profiles/tweets that redirect users back to the birdsite. Why give traffic and engagement to then? Let's try and keep it here. Screenshot is a good way. And a better way is definitely convincing the person to Mastodon.

@Memeghnad that's unfortunately due to the cross-post feature people are using. They're too attached to the bird site :/ I'm guilty too πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

@Shawshank well, don't. Make an effort. Try it out. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out and you can go back to Birdsite then. :pizza_pineapple:
@Memeghnad @Shawshank I agree.. though it is easier to do for people like me who didn’t have a large circle at the bird site...
@Perptualstudent @Memeghnad I think I'm going to flood my bird site TL with Mastadon links rather than vice versa 🀣

@Memeghnad migration takes time.

Even finding an emoji takes time πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ
