#introductions SO, I'm a pastor--it feels weird to say in this space. and also, I have tattoos, a nose ring, am in an interracial marriage & band, am #LGBTQaffirming & consider it part of my job to tear down #whiteprivilege #patriarchy #homophobia #transphobia #ableism #colonialism & #racism in the church. #theliturgists podcast has accompanied me through seminary to present--keeping me honest in my own #deconstruction & focused on constantly moving myself, my music, and God outside of the box💕
@sarahwright 🤣 I feel like we would get along well
@annelise yay! let's be friends! ❤️ 💃
@sarahwright yay friends 👍🏻🙌🏻👌🏻👊🏻
@sarahwright oh man! Yes on feeling a little weird stating, “I’m a pastor ,” here. I resonate with that. I feel weird saying almost anywhere. I’m looking forward to connecting and learning from you!
@danielmrose same! Learning with people is one of my top 10 favorite things 😍
@sarahwright I'm a Deacon in the ELCA. Looking for a space to be me in the social media world because I'm so exhausted from constantly double considering what I post on fb and other places. I need a place to explore and am hopeful this can work. Anyway, I'm glad you're here!
@JustAnna likewise!! So great to “meet” you! Where do you serve?
@sarahwright Minot, North Dakota! (That's a long story for another time). My family and I just moved here a year ago. I am the Campus Minister at Minot State University. Best job ever, plus it has solidified my inward craving and desire to never serve in a congregational setting again (even though that was rewarding, too). Where do you serve?
@JustAnna that’s so great! I’ve seriously considered campus ministry for the same reason.... I’m at a church north of Baltimore, MD. I’m the director of contemporary music/worship and pastor for discipleship and sharing pastoral care responsibilities
@sarahwright you are a part of the rebellion. I’m so happy you’re doing what you’re doing. The world needs more pastors like you.
@craigery thank you. This community is giving me life and courage. Seriously, thank you.
@sarahwright I was a pastor for 10 years in a charismatic church and I saw so much hurt and pain caused by ridged beliefs and intolerance for people who didn’t believe the same or identified as LGBTQ. I celebrate your bravery for being an opposing voice in a sea of noise.
@sarahwright Bienvenida, pastor. Your role, regardless of how weird it feels to admit, is important. Thanks for joining our community.
@carlito thank you so much. that means a lot to me. 💕
@sarahwright thank you for being here! 💛
@sarahwright How are your Ash Wednesday preparations going? First time I did an imposition of ashes, one of my parishioners with a heavily receded hairline caused me to be tempted to start sketching a scene with three crosses and a hill. I resisted. Turns out it was not futile to do so after all.
@Carlton hhhaahahahha! I just hope I don’t get it in anyone’s eyes this year haha. We’ve had a lot of death the last month so in a strange way we are more “ready” for Ash Wednesday than I’ve personally felt in the past. What about you?
@sarahwright Two really major active members here died in the last 3 months, and were my first 2 funerals in the community. There is definitely an awareness of death in the community. A good year for the ashes.
