Beth PThe same education "reform" act that instituted the graduation requirement for the #MCAS also caused the best teacher I ever had -- an English teacher -- to leave the profession. I don't have kids, and never had to deal with the MCAS graduation requirement, and I still know what a totally terrible idea it has always been. #YesOn2 every day and twice on Sundays.
Here's a great reason that #massachusetts voters should vote #yeson2 next month:
"For more than two decades, new educational initiatives such as No Child Left Behind and Common Core emphasized informational texts and standardized tests. Teachers at many schools shifted from books to short informational passages, followed by questions about the author’s main idea—mimicking the format of standardized reading-comprehension tests."
