Today the HONSVR prescription lenses for my new #XrealOnePro arrived - a week after the glasses. I tested them with the #SteamDeck. That mostly removes my issues with picture quality. I also don’t have any real issues with the physical resolution (1080p).
I like the virtual wide screen the best for the SteamDeck. The display stays fixed in space and I can swivel my head to see the edges which feels natural.
I’ll have to check the viability to replace a desktop monitor once I’m back from my #L8Sabbatical.
The #XrealOnePro is still limited.
- by its field of view, especially vertical. Turning my head when using the virtual ultra wide display is not a problem but I wouldn’t want to do the same to gain more vertical screen real estate.
- by its FHD resolution.
- by its lag when connecting and switching modes.
- by the lack of OS support for its capabilities beyond being a virtual monitor.

On Saturday I received my new #XrealOnePro. Of course the prescription lenses didn’t make it on time. So I’ll have to live with a not so good experience for a few more days.
I’ve been experimenting with various devices:
The steam deck is the winner so far. The virtual ultra wide display is far better than the built in.
On the iPhone it doesn’t improve anything - not even privacy as I still have to use the phone for input. A DEX like desktop experience would change that.
