It’s hard to fix something because it’s easy to break something else?

That’s your clue: refactor first.

(Special case of the general KFB wisdom “First make the change easy, then make the easy change.”)

@Patricia The Agile-Industrial Complex seems dominated by those folks. I just spent today working with a team AT A BANK doing what looks an awful lot like XP (#xplives). And they seem to contend from time to time with folks who definitely prefer they be more formal, but they resist.

It's my fault.

If you talk to each other, then you don't need rules. But if you don't talk to each other, then you need rules. It is possible to follow rules that promote talking to each other.

That works better when it's voluntary and intentional.

The #Lightweight emphasis on delivering frequently comes from an era when delivering every 6-18 months was commonplace and customers were starved for new features. Many of us don't live there any more.

Delivering frequently doesn't mean "Always Be Shipping New Features". It means practising delivery until you can do it in your sleep.

This is one way to generate options in order to enable a strategy that fits your business.

I'm a professional (!) #5pinbowling competitor with a 25-year (!) history in software development, most of it with a strong preference for #lightweight approaches.

I learned what I know about #Lightweight software from pioneers in the Extreme Programming community #xplives. I'm grateful to them.
