snaut81On the latest #fedora 42 #thinkpad #x13s has learned to suspend properly on closing the lid.
For about 10 hours the battery lost almost nothing.
That is awesome.
MarcusE1WI have tried Ubuntu 24.10 on the Thinkpad X13s with snapdragon 8cx processor. This is the first release where you can just install the standard ARM iso. Mostly works very well, a few niggles remain but this feels like the first normal ARM laptop. All my previous ones worked great but performance was a bit so so. This one is snappi and they got cheaper on eBay.
I need to try other distros now.

1peter10My #postmarketOS install on my #X13s broke beyond repair (i missed an initramfs related issue that must have been introduced through an upgrade at the right time where a simple `apk fix` could have fixed everything). I am now fighting with #ArchLinuxARM (started with following https://github.com/KingBBQ/arch_x13s?tab=readme-ov-file, which should not be that hard, but since I want to have luks and systemd-boot, because security... it's a pain. Currently compiling a kernel as I was lacking a module.
Jose MoralesSorry to update, I parted with my brand new, fully decked out, waited two months to get #lenovo #x13S with a #snapdragon chip, was looking to get the battery life and the freedom of #linux on a very nice built laptop, but after testing #ubuntu and #Gentoo I ran into several issues, first one was Wifi intermittent drops, which where a no go from the start, the other was having to reboot if I closed the screen… Not sure if it was bad luck DOA manufacturing or Linux common problems. 
Quick Pole, I’m about to return my day old #lenovo #x13s #snapdragon with #linux What distro/os are you running? I’m runing into wifi and locking issues.

Kurt KremitzkiAnyone out there running #Debian on the #ThinkPad #X13s? It's time for me to upgrade my 11-year old laptop and I think I'd like a nice ARM laptop but not necessarily an M1/M2 MacBook... last I heard the cameras are not fully working on the X13s so I would not want to have to dualboot into Windows every time I have a video conference.
Matthias Geisler@inlovewithpda Unfortunately not, at least not usable (after wake up the keyboard and touchpad are not working anymore). 😔 This is the one outstanding issue that bugs me a little. I've come to terms with the other ones (i.e. audio only on jack, no bluetooth). As I understand the root cause is pretty low level (think: interrupt, pci)…
