🎉 On March 27, something pretty special happened in Cambridge!

After months of prep, the @whpc Cambridge & East Anglia chapter teamed up with the RSE East of England group to host an incredible day of sharing, connecting, and showing off the amazing work of our community. About 25 brilliant folks – from Researchers and RSEs to HPC specialists – came together to do just that.

The theme? “Show up and show off!”

@icastico You won't get any argument from me. #journalism needs to evolve and do so rapidly. With all the cost cuts, staffing cuts, they need to change the way they work, collaborate more with local outlets, make the public the story every damned day. In this administration, #WHPC is crippled, infiltrated by non-journalists. Walk out of the room.

If Scripps News can provide a service that gives local TV anchors the ability to ask questions about what's going on in D.C., then members of the #WHPC can regroup, modify, evolve. Instead of asking Trump a key question he will just dodge, just use a version of his own trick . . .

"Yes Virginia, a Senator might not get him out, but many people are asking why POTUS can't get one person removed from a foreign prison who took the man in exchange for money - and they're not all Democrats." @w7voa

We had a brilliant day kicking off our regional RSE group as well as our new Women in HPC chapter!

Show up and show off - the RSEEE and WHPC Cambridge & East Anglia Kick-off! - RSE East of England

On Thursday, March 27, after months of planning and organising, the day had finally come: the Women in High Performance Computing (WHPC) chapter Cambridge and East Anglia, and the Research Software Engineering in the East of England (RSEEE) regional group welcomed a group of about 25 Researchers, Research Software Engineers, HPC Platforms Specialists and other […]

RSE East of England
Hey peeps from #WHPC at #SC24. I can't be there tonight for the reception, but I'm there with you in spirit, and in cardboard. My friend Carina is going to be representin', tho, so you got a better deal -)
Meet our experts at @Supercomputing!
Cristina leads the Technical Services team @ JSC. Specializes in data & file systems. Key player in the LOFAR Long Term Archive. Passionate about tech & gender equality, co-founder of the German WHPC Chapter JuWinHPC. #WomenInSTEM #WHPC
@maggiejk @emptywheel Why didn't NYT know there's a neurology clinic on the grounds? Aren't they there Every Day? It WAS a medical visit - to the clinic, not the president. See the difference? Where's the headline? I don't know why she didn't mention the bill. Seems like a major miss on her part, but did you hear #WHPC? they're like a bunch of rabid dogs. Disgusting.
@Osteopenia_Powers @GottaLaff @atrupar The last guy told them to go home and take horse dewormer and inject bleach. #WHPC is a disgrace.

#introduction

I am Marion (Bendig) Weinzierl (she/her), https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2302-5476.

I currently work as Senior #RSE at Advanced Research Computing, Durham University, UK (@arc_du). I am #RSEng Theme Leader at N8 CIR and co-founder and chapter co-lead of the N8 CIR #WHPC chapter.

My background is in #SciComp and I like building and fiddling with simulation pipelines. (If I need to write another bespoke parameter file parser I'll scream, though.)

I also end up organsing events and training a lot.
