New month = New Anti-Fascist Action of the month! For April, we are challenging you to join others in taking away public space from fascists!

Conceding public space to fascists gives them what they need to grow their movement, intimidate the people whose very existence they oppose, and increase the violence they’re responsible for, by legitimizing them as a fearsome, undefeatable force. Every fascist action or event that goes unchallenged grows their movement.

100+ years of anti-fascist history shows us that fascists can be handily defeated in the streets when met with anti-fascist opposition in equal or greater numbers. From the Battle of Cable Street in London in 1936 to the Battle of Lime Street in Liverpool in 2015 to the Battle of Billings Bridge in Ottawa in 2022, anti-fascists have handed fascists humiliating defeats by turning out in large numbers to oppose them whenever and wherever the fash have crawled out from under their rocks.

Wherever fascists are attempting to organize or broadcast their puerile filth, anti-fascists need to confront and oppose them. Denying them the public space to operate now prevents them from growing in power and becoming more difficult to stop later.
As Anti-Racist Action put it in their points of unity “WE GO WHERE THEY GO: Whenever fascists are organizing or active in public, we're there. We don't believe in ignoring them or staying away from them. Never let the nazis have the street!”

You'll find a list of 14 guides to help you plan out and execute successful anti-fascist actions here:
https://antifaintl.substack.com/p/30-guides-to-taking-anti-fascist-042

Read through them, take notes, share them and discuss them with your friends and work out how to effectively apply them to the situation you're looking at. Then do the damn thing!

Let us know how it goes!

30+ Guides To Taking Anti-Fascist Action

Part Four: Opposing The Far Right On The Streets & Online

Antifa International
Anti-fascism is a political movement in opposition to fascist ideologies, groups and individuals. Beginning in European countries in the 1920s, it was at its most significant shortly before and during World War II, where the Axis powers were opposed by many countries forming the Allies of World War II and dozens of resistance movements worldwide. Anti-fascism has been an element of movements across the political spectrum and holding many different political positions such as anarchism, communism, pacifism, republicanism, social democracy, socialism and syndicalism as well as centrist, conservative, liberal and nationalist viewpoints.

Fascism, a far-right ultra-nationalistic ideology best known for its use by the Italian Fascists and the Nazis, became prominent beginning in the 1910s. Organization against fascism began around 1920. Fascism became the state ideology of Italy in 1922 and of Germany in 1933, spurring a large increase in anti-fascist action, including German resistance to Nazism and the Italian resistance movement. Anti-fascism was a major aspect of the Spanish Civil War, which foreshadowed World War II.

Modern antifa politics can be traced to opposition to the infiltration of Britain's punk scene by white power skinheads in the 1970s and 1980s, and the emergence of neo-Nazism in Germany following the fall of the Berlin Wall. In Germany, young leftists, including anarchists and punk fans, renewed the practice of street-level anti-fascism. In the late 1980s and 1990s, Anti-Racist Action activists toured with popular punk rock and skinhead bands in order to prevent Klansmen, neo-Nazis and other assorted white supremacists from recruiting. Their motto was "We go where they go" by which they meant that they would confront far-right activists in concerts and actively remove their materials from public places.

@MaryAustinBooks @_L1vY_ @1nd33d #WeGoWhereTheyGo many choose not to stay in the shitehole and that’s fine. yes, it’s the nazibar now and we who stay get attacked from all sides. let those attacks not come from here as the fediverse is our refuge. 🖤
@chrisale i’m getting really tired of being shamed here for still being on twitter. my account has been on 2 telegram rw kill lists and i stay rt’ing afa accounts as well as cross-posting permanently banned (by twitter) antifascist journalists from here. i NEVER cross-post from twitter to here becuz i hated seeing all of these myself when i arrived. i will continue to do what i do even when the horrors that are anglin, tate, alexander, flynn, et al. are returning. yes. it is an absolute cesspool over there yet #wegowheretheygo

I love my local bar. I’m there, having a beer and reading. I came back from the bathroom and one of the regulars asks me about the book I’m reading. She’d eyed it while I was gone. I explain how Anti-Racist Action was founded here in Minneapolis and friends are quoted in the book. She proceeded to ask if she could take a picture of it so she can find it.
