Decided to become a monthly contributor to NPR because I believe they are a valuable contribution to our American republic. I will not entertain any differences of opinion on my decision; they will be summarily blocked. #npr #wdet https://bsky.app/profile/npr.org

#TBT #Playlist from #RadiosInMotion, very cool early-80s #PostPunk / #NewWave show on #Detroit's #WDET. Named after the #XTC classic. Very Anglocentric, but so am I so s'all good. A couple of local acts, #Cinecyde and #MarkJNorton, made the cut. Initially hosted by #MikeHalloran (maybe his handwriting?), later of #SanDiego's #91X and a few other stations. IIRC He got fired from one of 'em 'cuz he burned the studio down or something like that! 🎵 🎶 📻 👍 😁 #Music #ClassicRock #Radio #Broadcasting

The last #wdet episode about #Pontiac #michigan is a banger imo. It's good to have those working in some position of power understand that cities are good actually.
The #wdet episode on trying to grow the population of #detroit and #michigan is once again hearing about the population moving out for job opportunities and the possibility of transit.
Loved this show. It connected me to a musical culture that almost seemed exotic to white suburban adolescent me. And yeah, this is where #DetroitTechno got some of it's first exposure. Thanks to @civicDetroitDan for passing this along! 🎶👍 😁 #TheScene #WDET #WGPR https://wdet.org/2023/06/06/reflecting-on-the-cultural-legacy-of-the-scene/

#DTE is taking heat for its outrage map, which returns two different sets of numbers.

#WDET story has an interview https://wdet.org/2023/03/03/dte-energy-outage-website/

"The utility giant used two datasets to report outages, with a lower estimate prominently featured on its dashboard."

Part of this is the problem with smart meters - your power may be up, but the utility connection with your smart meter is offline. It's not possible to read all meters in the system at once.

Not any news to @nuxi @PowerOutageUS
