#TBT Early 1980s. #MTV rarely played black artists, #BlackEntertainmentTelevision was just getting it's legs, so R&B music videos were usually low-budget and got limited exposure on locally-produced TV shows like #TheScene on #Detroit's #WGPR. We'd tape 'em on VHS and make copies and pass 'em around at school. This is what they looked like. Fer real! ๐ŸŽต ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ“บ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ #SnoopDogg #SensualSeduction #Music #HipHop #RetroSoul

#ElectrifyingMojo is one of #Detroit's most influential DJ's. Detroit #Techno probably wouldn't exist without him. He's a question mark -- a mysterian, perhaps -- so I don't know how old he is, but a reliable source tells me that today is his birthday. Wishing our pilot of the airwaves a funky good time! ๐ŸŽ‚ ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ #Michigan #Radio #Music #WJLB #WCHB #WGPR #WAAM
Loved this show. It connected me to a musical culture that almost seemed exotic to white suburban adolescent me. And yeah, this is where #DetroitTechno got some of it's first exposure. Thanks to @civicDetroitDan for passing this along! ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ #TheScene #WDET #WGPR https://wdet.org/2023/06/06/reflecting-on-the-cultural-legacy-of-the-scene/
