AUTO.AEBugatti unveils the one-off FKP Hommage, a tribute to Ferdinand Piëch and the Veyron. Powered by a 1,578 hp quad-turbo W16 from the Chiron Super Sport, it blends modern performance with classic Veyron-inspired design. Estimated at up to $20 million, it’s one of Bugatti’s most exclusive creations.
Bugatti nearly built a “MegaWatt” Veyron with 1,341 hp, but Ferdinand Piëch pushed for even more power to hit 280 mph. The car couldn’t handle the demands, leading Bugatti to scrap the project and develop the Chiron instead. The concept remains a symbol of the brand’s extreme ambitions.
Before the Bugatti Veyron, VW tested its W16 engine inside a Lamborghini Diablo SV. After acquiring Lamborghini, engineers replaced the V12 with an 8.0L W16 prototype, adding extra cooling vents to handle the heat. This one-off project highlights a bold era of experimental engineering within the VW Group.
