Great stuff, though a tad light on the intersection of race + gender + fashion.

I tried to find if #verilybitchie has a mastodon account, and the only two that come up are @verilybitchie which was that ill-fated queer-centric instance that crashed and burned when the instance owner went off the rails, and @[email protected] which has no posts and says it's automated, so I'm guessing not...
It's a pity, you'd think a trans nonbinary content creator whose videos focus on queer issues especially in fictional media would be a shoe-in here, but alas I guess they're not a computer programmer so they probably don't know mastodon even exists.
"The problem with the 'representation matters' rhetoric is trying to find liberation in the market, in consumerism, capitalism. But the market is only interested in LGBT people, if they can make it money. (...) Is this how we find liberation by watching TV and hyping up exploitative businesses because they give us some formulaic gaystreamed stories (...)?"
Hm. It clicked for me when #VerilyBitchie compared an H&M shirt with a rainbow with queer-streamed Netflix shows.
So if you are #bisexual and like watching #VideoEssays, you must, must, *must* check out #verilybitchie on YouTube.
Being bisexual can sometimes feel alienating, like you don't really belong anywhere, even in queer spaces, so it's really amazing to hear someone talking about us and our issues and experiences from a deep place of knowledge and love for fellow bisexuals. Her videos make me feel seen in a way very few do.
#decrecs day 4:
My personal favorite YouTube essayist (well, tied with ContraPoints) is #verilybitchie.
They create video essays about pop culture, with a focus on bisexuality, transness, feminism and queerness. Properties they explore include vampires, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Barbie, Spiderman, Earthsea(!), and Tolkien.
Literally every single one of their videos is worth watching, even when you don't know the fandom they're talking about.
They're so fun and charming and thoughtful and I just love them so much!
I'm watching this and having a really great time 😁💖 I love
