“È stancante giocare contro Roger Federer a ogni turno. A volte mi sembra che stiano giocando a un livello davvero folle”. Carlos Alcaraz batte con tanta fatica Arthur Rinderknech e vola agli ottavi di finale di Indian Wells. Una partita complicatissima per lo spagnolo, che ha dovuto tirare fuori il meglio di sé, vincendo in tre set contro un avversario che per un set e mezzo ha giocato un grandissimo tennis. E proprio questo è stato un tema della conferenza stampa del murciano, che ha sottolineato come contro di lui tutti si esprimano al meglio, portandolo sempre al limite e quindi a sprecare sempre tante energie.
“Non so se la sto vivendo nel modo giusto, ma ho sempre la sensazione che succeda sempre contro di me. Se giocano a quel livello ogni partita, dovrebbero essere più in alto in classifica. Ovviamente è qualcosa che mi preoccupa e quando sono in campo ci penso“, ha spiegato Carlos Alcaraz nella conferenza stampa post partita a Indian Wells. “Tutto quello che posso fare è accettarlo, continuare così, cercando di fare cose diverse durante la partita, cercando di non lasciarmi aggredire e di mettere il mio stile, il mio tennis, il mio livello nella partita. Ma ovviamente la prima cosa è semplicemente accettarlo. Perché succede tutto ciò? Mi sento come se avessi un bersaglio sulla schiena“, ha concluso il murciano. Il motivo però è più semplice dei ciò che si pensi: chiunque – quando affronta i migliori – cerca di tirare fuori il meglio di sé per provare l’impresa.
Adesso Carlos Alcaraz affronterà Casper Ruud, che in rimonta ha eliminato Vacherot, giocando un gran tennis su cemento dopo diverso tempo. Alcaraz ha dovuto fare i conti anche con un problemino alla caviglia: “Se la caviglia sta bene? Direi di sì. Ora la farò controllare dal mio fisioterapista e vedremo come va. Ma, come avete visto, sono riuscito a correre benissimo, quindi spero che domani sia tutto a posto”.
