#Urising in #Karaj Central Prison: protest of #prisoners against the execution of #death penalty and vionlent repression by prison officials.
For several hours there has been a tense atmosphere in #Karaj_Central Prison caused by a clash between prison officials and prisoners. The clash occurred after prisoners protested against the transfer of several prisoners sentenced to death to carry out their sentences. Several protesting prisoners were injured in this clash.
Prison guards were transporting four prisoners sentenced to death to carry out their sentences when they were confronted with protests and slogans against the Islamic Republic by prisoners housed in sections 2,3 and 5. The prisoners protest developed into a clash and violence due to the guards intervention, injuring more than 100 prisoners.
The prison guards resorted to #shootings to quell the protest.
In protest against the violent behavior of prison officials, prisoners broke open a number of prison doors and cameras. In this context, the number of injured prisoners of possible fatalities of thes clash, as well as the identity of prisoners transferred to solitary cells, is not yet known.
