Now that the trend of soldering RAM into #Laptops is taking off from #Apple, #Qualcomm and #AMD, there is #CAMM.

The #SODIMM market will die, and CAMM manufacturing will have to shift to desktops where upgradeability and performance are core features.

What is CAMM2? Meet the faster, smaller, upgradeable new memory standard

Thinner, faster, and more repairable.

@markstos @MickInTx anyways, it still looks like a proprietary product, where one can flash/install own OS.

The cost for software - I don't want and won't use - is included in the price.

Also, it doesn't seem to be using much of standards for components. Good luck with #repairability or #upgradeability after years.

There are NAS cases from brands, and also no-brand ones on AliExpress (I bought one), that can fit standard mATX/ITX/ATX motherboard - repairable/upgradeable on component level.

There's no good justification for #Apple downgrading #Repairability and #Upgradeability of it's products...

@damngoodtech In the end it's a consumer's choice.

People need to be #TechLiterate enough to value #repairability (and #upgradeability) over making tue thinnest devices possible.

Now granted, both @frameworkcomputer amd @Fairphone did manage to design #thinn yet repairable devices, proving that all the #AntiRepair-Arguments are corporate propaganda lies!

Personally I'd accept even #thicc'er devices if that means they'd use more #COTS and less #custom parts...

@gerrymcgovern what would really help is @EU_Commission making #repairability and #upgradeability mandatory.

We don't throw away entire Desktops if just need more storage.

So why should anyone accept that on smartphones, tablets or laptops?
