Very significant, if correct, that the CBA will guarantee a share of gross revenue. While there's still a way to go before they get in the ballpark of what NBA, MLB, and NFL players get, this is a big accomplishment. The players fought hard for revenue sharing based on gross, not net.

Confirmed from a source in negotiations: The 20% number for the WNBA revenue-sharing in the new CBA is gross league revenue.

do you want to be liable even if your clueless employer demands it?

YET ANOTHER REASON TO HAVE TECH GUILDS & UNIONS

you as a tech worker taking orders, should be able to negotiate a new contract freeing you of any liability from your bosses ignorant demands

My early take on the #WNBPA #WNBA contracts is it's early for takes.

"The average revenue share would be nearly 20% across the length of the deal, though it remains unclear exactly what that revenue share system -- a main flashpoint in negotiations between the WNBA and the Women's National Basketball Players Association -- ultimately looks like."

The expiring contract guaranteed a share of net revenue after big and convoluted deductions. The NBPA, MLBPA and NFLPA get around 50% gross. Getting a healthy share of *gross* is hugely important, because net is more subject to outside forces and creative accounting.

Proud of the players for big gains and hope the 20% is of gross, no deductions or qualifications.

Every once in a while when things are bad at work, a coworker will be talking to me and say in a half whisper, unsure if I or maybe people in general will think what she's about to say is unwarranted exaggeration, "sometimes... working here feels like being in an abusive relationship."

The gaslighting, criticism, devaluing us, demand to adhere to hierarchy and authority.

You've probably thought this about some job before. If you've never said it out loud, you should, starting with someone you trust, cause you're definitely not alone.

Our #unions should be a place to make these things better. It's a heartbreaking betrayal when they reproduce the same cycles of abuse, or when they are the actual sites of gendered and sexual violence.

and let me say this straight up:

Silicon Valley techbros have more class solidarity among them than their workers.

it is no coincidence that they unleashed the grift of #AI as unionization was gaining momentum among workers in the largest companies; especially Amazon, Apple and Google.

the main purpose of #AIslop is to kill any unionization efforts by tech workers.

now, more than ever, tech workers need to organize into guilds that’ll represent them beyond employment.

sports labor unions like the #WNBPA prove collective bargaining is necessary to set the baseline in wages, earnings and benefits for workers of all kinds, including athletes.

tech workers, especially software developers, have been gaslit about not needing #labor #unions. if high-earning workers like multimillionaire athletes and actors can be unionized, tech workers should be too.

Many major Japanese companies agree to pay hike demands in full

Close attention is being paid to whether the wage hike momentum will spread to small companies, which employ about 70% of all workers in Japan.
