The fact that a Black man, a former slave, was the distilling genius behind the success of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, one of the world’s major liquor brands, is intriguing. In recent years, Nearest Green has finally gotten the recognition he deserves.

My paintings always take a long time because I get so excited that I just want to party, and because many other reasons — the paint has to dry, get sanded, painted again and so on, I have a day job, I'm very inefficient, lazy, and so on. 😹

In art school, I was taught to use the word violet, not purple. And colors would be described by there location on the color wheel.

The paint formulation I'm using is a dark violet (others use the word deep violet). I have several more layers to apply so it looks simply violet.

In the end, it will dry almost black, and one would assume it were black unless they were to take a very close look at it.

And I plan on making the surface super flat.

#NearestGreen Distillery, home of #UncleNearest Premium Whiskey, opened the world's longest bar tonight in my rural county. I kind of wanted to go, but I didn't. Now, I'm seeing the photos on Facebook and regretting that I didn't go. I understand they were expecting such a huge crowd that there was an overflow tent for people who couldn't get into the bar, which is one reason I didn't go.
