The op of this thread (not this quoted post) is what #DemandEverythingAcceptNoTradeOffs is for.

As if any @[email protected] folk, including @librewolf, has the ability to even maintain the Gecko engine - let's all switch to Chromium and see the dying days of adblock.

Their #AI is a local on-device model runs without internet connection, it has nothing to #InfoSec or #Privacy - just teenagers shouting at the sky because everyone else hates AI they should hate it too.

He (on the balance of probability) can't even tell he addressed the Lemmy sub instead of the official Firefox account; I wonder what he studies technologies for.

2 domains, 2 servers, 2 web servers - 1 public IP - programming.dev

Hello, all. I’ll start this post off with - this is a test. :P I have the same topic posted at /r/… seeing if I get any l<3ve over here!!! I hope so!!! LemmyNet for the WiN! I have two domains that I pay for… lets call them domain1.com [http://domain1.com] and domain2.com [http://domain2.com]. I’m running a Bitwarden docker container that uses nginx to serve the website… its address is bitwarden.domain1.com [http://bitwarden.domain1.com] . I’m running a HUGO website with Apache2… its address is domain2.com [http://domain2.com] . I have one local IP address; currently, I forward ports 80 & 443 to the local IP of the Bitwarden VM. So… thats my issue; I don’t understand how to forward these two different services to the domains that I want them on… I’ve read about Apache2’s vhosts - but the websites are on different VMs, and the Bitwarden docker container uses nginx. I’ve thought about condensing and putting both services in one VM; but theres still the apache2/nginx issue. I’ve heard someone mention I should use a third VM to route the traffic to the correct local IPs - but I don’t know what software I’d use. I’ve thought about using a Cloudflare tunnel for one of those services; but I don’t really want to pay, and aren’t sure how fast a free Cloudflare tunnel would be - this might be a solution for the Bitwarden service, as I’m the only one accessing it… Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m sure I’m just novice enough that I don’t see the obvious solution - and I’d love to get both sites up and running. Thanks for any input or help!!! pAULIE42o . . . . . . . . . . . /s

The Gov just straight up buying all my personal data from the dark web and I'm over here tryna edit line 986 of my custom uBlock Origin configuration

@SleepyCatten It hasn't been updated in a while, I hope the author is OK.

I've started my own little blocklist focusing on AI buttons/widgets since: https://codeberg.org/alxndr42/no-ai-buttons

Less AI buttons, less distraction, less misinformation! 😌

Why did you put on useless decorations? Previously, #NoScript and #uBlockOrigin could be accessed in one step.

If you watch Prime using a computer, Firefox + uBlock Origin extension block all ads on Prime. (So far... watched a film on Mercado Play the other day & their ads defeated uBO. Wonder when other sites will copy that tech.)

I'm surprised the article doesn't say more about how individuals can shelter from surveillance and targeted advertising. Here's my standard package of measures:

  • Remove all mobile phone apps you're not using
  • On both your computer and your phone, use a more privacy-focused browser than Google #Chrome. I use #Firefox. Don't use anything based on #Chromium.
  • In your browser, on all devices, install the following extensions: #uBlockOrigin, #Decentraleyes and either the #EFF's #PrivacyBadger or #Ghostery
  • Install PiHole to protect your home network (or cook a nice dinner for a geeky friend who installs it for you)
  • On your phone, install either #Blokada or #TrackerControl to prevent apps from phoning home while you're using mobile data and you're not protected by your Pi-Hole.

It's terrible that you have to be this careful and this technically knowledgeable to reduce the harms of targeted advertising. I agree with the article about the legal changes we need to make. But, since that's not going to happen in the foreseeable future, we should also talk about the things people can do to protect themselves right now. And, as technically knowledgeable people, we should offer practical help to our friends and loved ones to protect them directly.

gorhill had to exclude @pgl's list and uBlock Origin's badware list from uBlock Origin Lite Safari, as the way Safari counted the rules caused these lists to count has far more rules than they would in Chrome or Firefox.
Safari's odd counting inflated the number of rules in these lists to the point where they made it difficult to enable regional lists since enabling other lists would cause the number of filters to exceed the maximum allowed.

EasyList is planning to remove a large number of adservers at or around 6 AM European time Monday next week.

There have been concerns raised about if MV3 extensions can handle removing this many filters: https://github.com/w3c/webextensions/issues/319#issuecomment-4094568592

Both AdGuard and uBlock Origin have confirmed this should not be a problem for their extensions, as they bundle the rules with the extension rather than loading them dynamically.
The AdBlock Plus developers have requested EasyList remove the filters in chunks, due to concerns about issues.
