This is some weird perspective, IMO. Social media isn't the problem – the problem is what big tech did to social media. Wanting to talk to people of either similar or diversely different interests is healthy, and being online in the '90s gave me access to people that didn't exist in my high school or work or sports cohorts.

I wanted to talk Star Trek, I wanted to talk comic books. I *could* (and sometimes did) seek out the fan clubs in my area, but chatting with fellow fans on IRC and forums was just... easier, and less pressure.

Coming here is like chatting online in the '90s. We're not being forcefed anything by algos. THAT is the problem at Twitter, with or without Elon.

For all the talk of Mastodon being better about harassment it doesn’t seem like it has any features ppl who deal w/ tons of harassment have been asking Twitter for:
* Mass blocking capabilities
* Ability to block/limit anyone who likes a specific post or follows a specific person
* Ability to see only notifications from mutuals, etc.

Can you even limit ur replies to mutuals only on here? Doesn’t seem like you can?
