True outdoor seating collection by True Design

**Dezeen Showroom: **Italian furniture brand True Design has released a range of minimalist steel-framed outdoor seating that can be finished in a range of colours, which are designed to blend into nature.

The True collection includes newly released outdoor versions of two of the brand's classic seating designs – Leonardo Rossano's straight-backed Marina chair and the curved Not chair by Italian studio E-ggs.

The True outdoor seating collection includes Marina Out (above) and Not Our (top image)

Marina Out features the same clean lines as its indoor counterpart but is rendered in hardwearing steel to withstand the elements.

Its combined seat and backrest can be made from either metal rods or wire mesh, ensuring the final result remains light, compact and easily stacked.

Not Out features a curved backest that envelops the occupant

The Not Out chair features a more generous backrest that gently envelops the occupant and a sled base propped up on little black polypropylene feet.

Both outdoor seats can be finished in True Design's extensive palette of weather-resistant epoxy powder paints, from lavender purple to the soft yellow of summer wheat, in order to suit different environments.

Both chairs can be finished in nature-inspired colours, including summer-wheat yellow

"Objects designed to be experienced in open spaces are transformed into camouflaged bodies, where function overtakes trends and aesthetics become totally integrated with the place," True Design said.

True seating collection by True Design

Dezeen Showroom: the True collection by Italian brand True Design encompasses a range of ergonomic seating designed to be informal and adaptable to any interior space.

The True collection includes Fender, a family of sofas and armchairs with tubular steel frames and rounded edges that invite users to sit on their armrests.

Fender is available as an armchair and in two sizes of sofa

"The place where the arm usually rests becomes an additional seat, a comfortable support to use the armchair in a more dynamic and informal way," said True Design.

"Sitting on the armrest is no longer a childish or impertinent gesture since it is made specifically to accommodate and sustain this."

The Fender sofa and armchair has rounded, cushioned armrests that can be used as additional seating

Also featured in the True collection is Code, a range of ottomans that can be combined into different seating arrangements.

The Code poufs come in circular, square and triangular shapes and are also available with an optional backrest.

The Code poufs are intended to be combined to create larger seating compositions

True Design describes the True collection as vast and versatile, suiting a range of environments from retail, hospitality and workspaces to private residences.

Fender seating by Francesco Favaretto for True Design

Dezeen Showroom: created by Francesco Favaretto for Italian brand True Design, the Fender sofa and armchair feature distinctively rounded armrests that invite sitting.

The Fender family of sofas and armchairs were developed around their armrest design. The seating's metal fame intersects with the cushioned armrest in a way that highlights its enticing softness.

The Fender seating is suitable for the home or office

The design is meant to encourage casual and dynamic seating by inviting people to lounge on the armrest in whatever way makes them most comfortable.

"Sitting on the armrest is no longer a childish or impertinent gesture, since it is made specifically to accommodate and sustain," said True Design.

Its distinctive armrest invites people to get comfy

Fender is available as an armchair or a two- or three-seater sofa. True Design recommends it for both the home and for office environments, where the seating can be used for informal meetings and get-togethers.

The tubular steel base has adjustable aluminium feet, and comes in a range of 16 standard colours including red, blue, sand yellow and ochre brown.

There is also a variety of options for the upholstery, including fabrics suitable for outdoors.

Not outdoor collection by E-ggs for True Design

Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand True Design has expanded its Not furniture collection with two outdoor pieces designed by E-ggs — one called Not Out and the other Notable.

The Not outdoor range echoes the contemporary, rounded forms of True Design's Not indoor seating collection, but reimagines them for the al fresco lifestyle.

The Not Out chair and Notable table are new designs by studio E-ggs

Light and stackable, the Not Out chair is made of thin galvanised steel rods, with a sled base and lots of colour options for its powder paint finish.

It pairs well with the Notable table, which has a central steel leg on a cross base and a tabletop available in a range of materials including terrazzo-like stone agglomerate.

The chair is made of powder-coated steel rods

The tabletops come in round, square or plectrum shapes, with other material options including laminate, oak wood or walnut.

Varnish colour options for the steel components include sand yellow, red orange, reed green and ochre brown.

Abisko seating by Claesson Koivisto Rune for True Design

Dezeen Showroom: Swedish architecture and design firm Claesson Koivisto Rune has created Abisko, a collection of gently rounded seating for True Design.

The range includes daybeds, chairs and sofas and is named Abisko after a national park set within the Arctic Circle in Sweden.

The park is famous for its view of a U-shaped valley known as Lapporten or gateway to Lapland.

The collection references Abisko's natural topography

This topography and the area's natural colour palette informed the earthy hues and soft, rounded silhouettes of the seating collection by True Design.

"From the name of an immense natural park to the name of an object, they share the same colours, passion for natural shapes and knowledge of materials," the brand explained.

Abisko seating features a solid wood frame, varnished steel legs and fabric or leather upholstery in muted hues.

The collection features a wooden frame and steel legs

According to Claesson Koivisto Rune, the collection was designed completely remotely due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"This has meant no physical meetings between us as designers and True Design as developers and manufacturers have been possible," the firm explained.

"For anyone with experience in the design process, it is a remarkable feat to develop a strong visual and tactile product under such circumstances."
