@goatsarah @jon I would absolutely *love* to be able to travel corner-to-corner, coast-to-coast on the Iberian peninsula by sleeper train. Perhaps this will come back, one day. For example, get on a train in Alicante or Murcia at 10pm after an early supper and wake up in Galicia or Lisbon 👌…

RENFE axed all the sleeper trains.

Public services should not be run according to how much shareholder value they can generate.

@jon Oh how sad. The #Trenhotel would be sitting in #Limoges when I arrived on the late train from #Austerlitz on Thursdays back in the days of weekly commuting. I used to peer into the @diningcar and wonder if I could board unnoticed. Seeing your Estació de França photos makes me wish I had; there were tablecloths and everything.

@lerk @andreaswiedenhoff I used to commute between #Limoges and #Paris on a regular basis and would often find the #Trenhotel sitting alluringly when I arrived home on the last train from Austerlitz.

#Milan 🇮🇹 to #Barcelona 🇪🇸 over night with the #RENFE #SNCF #Trenhotel gauge-changing #Talgo. At midnight the train stops at #Modane 🇫🇷 for a loco change where a French class BB26000 #Sybic takes over. Pictures taken in December 2006.
