Do you ever talk with someone who quickly tells you that they "...don't believe in the whole idea of being trans," and then say they have some of the least cisgender thoughts you can think of?
Like, I'm no expert. I'm still relatively new to my current gender identity, compared to a lot of folks. And of course, no one can tell someone else their gender identity. They gotta decide that on their own.
But come on... I've never met a cis dude who has said, "Also don't get me wrong I've thought about how life would probably be easier if I were actually born a girl..."
So anyway, gonna be thinking about that guy all day while I work today...
From a work discussion about office attire today:
"For a lot of my life, I'd go clothes shopping and think, 'Man, it's really unfair how much more broad women's fashion is than men's. They get so many more options.' And then my very next thought would be, 'Well, nothing to be done about that. Better go buy more cargo shorts.'"
I'm pretty sure it's healthy to love our past selves, right? It's better to treat them with kindness and care than scorn. But I'm going to say, lovingly, that past me was a dolt. There were so, so many signs...
