One of the great things of Topicus (the company I work for since 2004) is that you can make things happen. I came up with the idea of a internal conference in 2006, we held the first event in 2007 and it has grown from 80 attendees, two rooms and 8 presentations to about 1000 attendees, a festival area and over 50 presentations by our coworkers (Topicanen).

I think we're the only IT company that has ever received a "Early Medieval State Forming Processes” from one of its managers.
@bertthijsdejong once threatened to give a presentation about “Early medieval state forming processes” in lieu of a "normal progress presentation" during one of our plenary sessions.

Of course we immediately discouraged anyone to give a presentation (but failed in the end). However @bertthijsdejong came through and delivered a stunning course on the subject.
