I've done some #toolsharpening on this our Cooldown Wednesday.

I develop in tmux on a remote box over SSH and any time I've wanted to download a file to my Mac or copy a longer bit of text to my Mac, it's been painful.

I can now do

dl myfile.txt

to download files using iTerm fanciness:

https://github.com/henrik/dotfiles/commit/b4e9b07206bfdea2127d45c6cc7b8634245ec67e

And

echo foo | tcopy

to copy content to the Mac pasteboard, or ,y in Vim:

https://github.com/henrik/dotfiles/commit/858603a85fba8f4113470366aade08ad405282c5

Add 'dl' bin for downloading files · henrik/dotfiles@b4e9b07

Works from inside remote servers. Assumes iTerm2.

Well, i have to say my sharpening setup is working just fine.

My old Record No4 haven't seen shavings like these since the 80s... 😅

New honing guide just arrived...

I've kind of finished my honing/sharpening board.

There's places for storing the diamond stones and leater strop and honing material for it.

The Water Stone grinder works a treat.

Only problem I have with the setup is when Lapping. The position of the stones makes this impossible, but I can just move the stones to an edge to do this.

I misplaced my honing guide, so I haven't tried the diamond stones. Though I have used the strop and grinder.

Almost got my tool sharpening board surface done
Everything is recessed to keep them in position. WetStone grinder put in place.

Just going to sand it down and apply mineral oil to the surface, then start on the underside storage for the other sharpening odds and ends.
Drill is there to give you an idea, it's not the one I'll be using.

Following on from the Diamond Stone purchase, I'm making a tool sharpening board that I can clamp to any flat work area.

Going to use 3 of the honing stones inserted but not glued, just recessed so they don't move.

Recessing a leather honing strop.

And underneath hopefully a place to store the stones and other sharpening related items.

I'm also adding a water cooled drill powered WetStone to the mix (100 Grit wheel) just to get me started recovering old chisles

Okay, here's where im at...

I know I've had the advice not yo go buying expensive Diamond Stone route for sharpening where an oil stone or wet stone will do, but at £20 from amazon these were a bargain IMHO.

You would spend alot on sandpaper for the scary method before these ever will go dud on you.

Coupled with a nice leather honing strop and polishing compound I'm pretty sure I won't need anything else.

Just need old chisels to practice free handed honing.

More #nushell #toolsharpening experiments: creating a `goto` command that is basically a glorified `cd` but jumps to any project in any number of workspace directories I have. Including shell completion.

It took 30 lines of nushell (which admittedly took me an hour or two to get working): https://github.com/jasononeil/dotfiles/commit/a43e4a165424d734e1a1d57f910d42a0e31d90ba

How do you clean your local git branches after they're rebased (not merged) onto the main remote branch?

I'm still surprised how much hand-rolled stuff I see out there to tackle this.

How is this not something with at least partial git support without scripting involved?

Ground is officially too wet to ever use the lawnmower ever again. Sharpening the scythe... Thanks to my mate Andy for the sharpening skills.
