borrowing some feel good films from the library after a rough week™ and realizing i have all the ingredients to adapt roman holiday into my fantasy verse 
(though I spent yesterday adapting a random spy flic to my ocs because i'm still hungry for a scenario where i can make use of Florin's ability to switch around gender representations to mess with people)

whenever i'm tabling at cons, i inevitably think about pre dragon story ocs again due to leftover prints, and this time it was:
Faramund and Mahir are my two ocs who are able to keep their cool in the worst of situations by canon design.
Faramund was kinda born to be a medic, he has a switch in his brain where he goes from horny idiot to serious business in a split second. he would make a great paramedic but he's convinced he'd be more useful as a GP. I wonder how his patients feel about his resting bitch face though 🤭
Mahir on the other hand... being raised a child soldier while simultaneously carrying around a god in a sword that makes you see other planes of existence kinda warps your relationship to reality i think 🥴 he would laugh in the face of death if he wasn't busy smooching it
They'd make a dream team in any sort of emergency situation. Did I crackship these two like crazy because that thought alone is homoerotically charged like crazy? you bet i did!

and for the record, my other ocs aren't anywhere near as levelheaded. Lành may be the dragon tamer but the only reason he doesn't constantly freak out is by desensitisation through repetition. Florin (lol) is not made for any of this, born to be a little guy, forced to heal. Ansgar is a big softie who takes everything to heart. Yuuko looks cool on the outside but is losing her absolute shit on the inside

thinking about Lành having lost his arm again and I love how that incident alone demonstrates so well the subtlities of canon vs (canon adjacent) villains au.
The boring (or rather mundane?) half: In canon he somewhat learns to live with it because he has the support system to carry him. Not to mention the connections he made with his "maybe it's actually bad to kill dragons to the brink of extinction" advocacy. (which leads him to Florin in the first place, even though they're still convinced they're human at that point in the story lol)
Villains au however. Lol. Lmao.
In villains au he is a sore loser on some toxic masculinity bullshit. He doesn't have friends, he just has employees and buyers, and losing an arm means his source of income (raison d'être?) via catching/killing magical creatures is gone. He strikes a deal with Aurel (villain!Florin) to regrow his arm, and when they finally do, something in his brain breaks.
He would never admit the massive trauma that the loss of his arm caused, and Aurel being so careless about physically hurting people (they're a healer, so they don't think this matters. plus their hatred for poachers) does something to him. The two of them never talk this out, but fall into some sort of consensual torture routine because apparently just sex is boring now.
canon!Lành fantasizes about getting spanked, maybe. lol. put the same blorbo in wildly different circumstances and observe them under the microscope
my local art group is planning the next comic anthology, and I have SO MANY OTHER DEADLINES but the gods/deity theme makes it hard to resist because that was the main thing with my previous oc verse.
I think one of the last story snippets I thought up for Mahir and his cursed sword would be perfect for it: impossible to win card game, because reality doesn't follow its rules around gods.
