I've waited till today to post this, as it's more aspirational and dare I say hopeful than practical and analytical. But heading into a new year seems like a good time...
Reflecting on this year, there's a theme of dropping the masks: Project 2025, Andreessen's techno-oligarch manifesto, and others.
In light of that, I think it's time to summon the audacity to conceive of our own bold visions, and to offer them to the world.
What Andreessen goes to great lengths to both demonize and avoid actually admitting the existence of, is the #technoprogressive position. If his writing has any central thesis, it is actually this.
He spends most of it setting up for the "enemies" section, so he can roll up technoprogressivism into his strawman argument by referring to it only obliquely, through some of its offshoots.
He doesn't want to actually admit the existence of a pro-technology worldview that's opposed to him.
