Verified News with a system by the author(s) and as a platform as authentic does solve several problems. Creating a way to give news publishers and reporters a platform to get a signature based, multi layer authentication framework on top to say 'this is what we published' with a mechanism to easily do so will be beneficial. Think of this like an integrated system that could be built around existing tools you use today already

You touched on a few of those problems with your questions you asked and also touched on a few techniques used for disinformation also used in Free Web Hosting areas. I think some students and technology C.S. students will have some fun with this as well as FSF, EFF, RTDNA, IEEE, etc as there are multi-industry uses around this type of framework, which already exist in certain areas Operating Systems wise but has not really been applied to certain publishing systems.

One example that comes to mind is making #news #tamperproof as an #onion let's say. Multiple layers of the behind the scenes things (a hash of the work, a #LoT of this applied to the news Blockchain for the organization, a reporters Blockchain of their own stories, etc as a few examples) which adds to the behind the scenes checks and balances which can be extended and also layered with other verification methods that can apply a snapshot of 'this is what we published'.

I believe certain decentralized protocols are also working on this implementations also last I checked. Code repositories also have some things around this also.

For example, let's say you have a WordPress blog and this all happened behind the scenes. Perhaps this module is installed. Perhaps this simple module just does all this behind the scenes and the output is a simple verified icon, like a green lock ๐Ÿ”’. Sure, you could fake it with a simple overlay graphically just like any other screenshot that could be altered. But perhaps the level of complexity of this onion type plugin / web based and client side ledger ๐Ÿ“’ was also verified via client side mechanisms that go through the layers and checks the 'as published framework'. A digital signature of 'this is a snapshot signature of what this organization / person / coder / journalist / blogger / developer / military orders / etc' published.

Some of these areas of application may surprise in the future. ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿง…๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“Œ

I wonder when the #NewsBusiness is going to get their #reporters to cryptographicly sign their #NewsStories with a built in #SHA512 module in all major #webbrowsers #W3C #IEEE #RFE #disinformation campaign fights #opensourcesoftware & extend this to #RSS readers also? ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿค”

ยน Perhaps this #SHA512 generates a hash of 'the web page and the images / videos used' so that the whole thing can be 'verified by the #NewsOrganization & #TheReporter' as a cross signed #VerifiedNewsStory so one could, as a reader, know iF this has been modified via #MITM or not, showing the story as a #TrustedNewsStory?

ยฒ Perhaps simple, well established iconography, such as the lock ๐Ÿ”“๐Ÿ”’๐Ÿ—๏ธ, color coded red or grey or green, could be used to show this like it does already for HTTPS?

ยณ Perhaps there is a #GPGP module that could be adapted for this purposes since there is a GPGP.js, init? #UIUX thots
