Sat in the steam room, post workout, listening to the Y’s water aerobics class’s soundtrack. It’s amazing how humans surround ourselves with music and don’t even think about it.
Jog up to the high school track as a warmup and #REDFAM 6/30. 1.7 miles, 21:56, for 13:08 pace. Definitely becoming summer
Lifts were 5x4 bench and squat, 5x1 deadlift, all at 70%. Back to #TacticalBarbell on Monday!
Woohoo! Finally swung by the Y and signed up. After two weeks off, gonna do two sessions to get back in the swing, then resume second half of the paused lifting program. And hit the steam room for heat training!
Bought ice cream to support upcoming extra calorie expenditures between it and REDFAM.
Didn’t want to miss a workout after the move, so joined a big, inexpensive, national gym. No squat racks, only Smith machines… Guess I’m moving gyms again once we get settled in. Never thought I’d be this kinda snob.
Black tee. Black shorts. Black shoes. Grabbed a little color from the sock drawer.
1/4 finished with the 12-week program. Haven’t had any serious soreness, weights have increased, RPE has decreased. But, man am I looking forward to the upcoming drop week!
Wrapped up the second week of the fitness revamp. Weights that felt hard last Monday were almost easy today. Wednesday starts a peak week of lifting at 90% 1RM.
And today’s warmup, usually ten minutes of light jogging, was the easiest it’s been since restarting, but two weeks of consistent easy work is finally paying off! No clue what the weather is, but have a nice 9.5 miles loop picked out for the weekend’s long run.
Started week 2/12
- 3x5 bench at 80% 1RM
- 3x5 squat at 80% 1RM
- and…. 2x5 of ASSISTED pull-ups (*sad trombone*).
Long recovery times accompanied my random mix of music, but ended with Dr. John’s “Gilded Splinters.”
Got home to discover I’m probably on a government watchlist for last night’s post. For the record FBI/NSA/CIA/DHS, *I* have not the technical skills to make a theoretical Resist@Home app nor clever enough to come up with the name.
Tearing myself away from a good book and good coffee to go move some weight in a cold basement gym. The fuck is wrong with me?
Hammering a strength and conditioning session in my little home basement gym.
