this one is 36 cards wide, the widest i made so far, it was a little difficult to work with so many cards at first, but i got used to it and finished it quite quickly

this one was satisfying and fast to make because the yarn is thicker and the pattern quite simple

The symbol is known in Finland/Karelia as Siivilänpesonen, but I also found the same symbol in old Ukrainian folk art, where it is called Krynytsia (Well).
The meaning to the symbol is told to be:
The well, marked by crossed diagonal lines, symbolizes the link between worlds - like a real well that draws not just water, but ancestral memory. Alongside it, the fertility rune invokes abundance and continuity of life.

i like to try new patterns but i really really dislike threading the cards, so i wove two patterns with the same threading.
i experimented a little on the areas when the twist changes direction to see how different approaches look.

Another project I am currently working on is a reconstruction of the trim of a richly decorated shroud. The original was found in a woman's grave in the cemetery of Siksälä, Estonia. The woman buried in grave 38 was wrapped in a cloth decorated with metal clasps and a tablet-woven border. The burial dates from between 1300 and 1475 AD. This is what the border trim once looked like:

Yesterday's threads are today's trim.
The pattern is that of Hallstatt Textile 123, which dates dack to the Celtic period. It was found in the salt mines of Hallstatt, where it has been reused and was thus preserved. Originally it was most probably sewn onto a sleeve hem.

It ist so satisfying to have a newly threaded project on the loom. Soon it will be a trim with a pattern from the Celtic period of Hallstatt.
