On Monday, I got these ten bowls back from an exhibition. They are called "Reparation inom slöjden" (In English: Repair in Slojd (or Crafts🤔)). It's a piece all about repair and the right to repair. Most of these bowls have been repaired using a method that has been used historically here in Sweden and around the world by ordinary people. This demonstrates that repair is a skill everyone can learn and apply, even today.
This connection between historical repair practices and modern repair hobbies is evident in my own interest in repairing electronics. Just as people in the past used simple methods to fix everyday items, today we often only need a basic understanding and a search engine to repair many issues. The main challenge now is accessing spare parts. Previously, a lot of things were more mechanical and easier to repair in a personalized and fun way. By embracing the principles of repair from the past and driving companies to provide spare parts, we can make a big difference in this world. And that's really what this piece is all about.
