Well, I did it. I dragged out my old SurfacePro and updated it. I bought a year of Ms365. My SP 8 is too old to get the latest security updates. I was going to replace my well-loved 2020 M1 MacBook Air this spring anyway, but instead I bought a shiny new #SurfacePro 11 which should arrive on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

Normally I would just find workarounds to get past weird Apple issues, but this ruining of Pages where I did A LOT of writing just broke my Apple attachment. I know I could use LibreOffice but that has no automatic backup and still requires wrestling with file compatibility. So Word it is.

My favorite writing software ever was #AmiPro. Still miss it.

So I'm trying out #Fedora 43's #KDE spin on my #SurfacePro 9 with a live USB. I know about #SurfaceLinux if I decide to go all in with it. The network browser in Dolphin seems to be using '.local' for my instead of the search domain configured in /etc/resolv.conf. This seems to cause authentication to fail trying to access shares. I can manually type in the right hostname, but curious why it's putting that '.local' in there at all.
