A few days before christmas I got to the point on my longterm project that I feared a bit: cutting the front steek. But it went so well! I learned that steeking can be intimidating but with a good choice of yarn (I used some shetland yarn) the steek is very safe and secure and it's somehow fun.

three out of four homework swatches for Rowan Connect Steeking class coming up mid March. using up scraps from sweater i was working on that i realized would be huge so i frogged it and started over. procrastinating on fourth swatch by knitting toy cat from free ravelry pattern with my adjustments and restarting the entrelac sweater #knitting #steeking #rowan #colorwork #stranded #pebbleislandyarn mustard on beige on the right doesn’t contrast so well but too lazy to redo it for the class
Today is cutting the steeks and try it on. Looks ok to me! #islandtoislandvest #fairisleknitting #maryjanemucklestone #knitting #steeking
The next time I will use this yarn for a project classically made flat, I will deep dive into #steeking. Thoughts? Join the laughs & crafts crew #live on https://twitch.tv/yarnia 🧶#knit #handmade #Giveaway ☝️

I did it! Successfully steeked a #StrandedColorwork sweater! (With some help from a friend who is an experienced knitter)

Now for the finishing work to get the zipper attached!

Happy #Fiberuary! This week’s theme is COLOR. My fave knitting technique is stranded colorwork, and I’ve knit some pretty awesome projects over the years. An FO from 2008 - the pattern is Kristin’s Favorite Carry-All from Best of Interweave Knits, designer Kristin Nicholas. This FO is so old I even have a blog post about it: https://kimtimnashville.typepad.com/craftykim/2008/08/fo-finally-the-bag-large-enough-to-hold-the-purse-contents-of-the-universe.html #knitting #StrandedColorwork #steeking
It's not only Caturday at my house. It's also #Knitterday - I'm so happy with the texture on this work in progress. And that line down the middle? I'm going to take scissors to it! [Gasp!] This will be a cardigan with long sleeves in no time. #knitting #steeking @knitting #SweaterKnitting
