BassBoom! Beta 2 is out!

The second beta of BassBoom! is out after the May 31st release of the first ever beta! We are thrilled to announce to you that this is an actual second beta release instead of a minor version of the first beta. We are continuing to develop BassBoom as time passes, and we’ll make sure that further beta versions will excite you so much.

Here’s what we’ve added to this beta version of the software:

  • We’ve added the volume booster! This feature allows you to adjust the volume higher than 100%, but we’ve limited it up to 300% to avoid sound artifacts and potential damage to the speakers. But, it’s still sound madness, so you can go crazy by playing a trance music at volumes higher than 100%! You can unlock this by pressing the V key and raising the volume using the up arrow key!
  • We’ve added the M3U playlist parser! Starting from this beta, we’ve added a functionality that allows you to parse all M3U and M3U8 playlists, as long as they provide only MPEG streams that are supported by MPG123. Playlists are crucial for all music players that provide queuing support, so we’ve added this feature, together with an ability to save them to an M3U file. Just press F1 once you populate your queue with your favorite jams!
  • We’ve added more APIs to the Basolia library! As we’re aiming for more flexibility in the library, we’ve added some of the most useful APIs, especially the output APIs that control the opening of output devices and starting them at your desired bit rate and encoding.
  • We’ve improved the look of the player! The player looks cooler than before, with the entire thing being re-designed to fit in within Terminaux 5.0’s design language. We’ve also expanded the Disco mode so that you can finally light the whole borders up with rainbow colors that greatly accelerate the euphoria of the music!

In addition to these changes, we’ve added more general improvements and bug fixes so that we can make your BassBoom experience more sophisticated and enhanced than before. In addition to that, we’ll be silently releasing the tenth year anniversary of the News series tomorrow at 11 PM at Los Angeles time to finally end it peacefully. In addition, we’ve brought you a surprise! Press F2 when idle at the music player, and sit back.

Why not get this second beta? Get it here!

BassBoom Documentation is Ready

BassBoom 0.0.1 was released to the public back on October 1st after much testing, but the documentation was lacking because the GitBook documentation of the library didn’t exist.

As we were making the GotBook documentation, we realized that we’re simultaneously making the second alpha version of BassBoom released yesterday, dubbed as BassBoom 0.0.2, and we didn’t want to cause inconsistencies with the source code version, so we’ve decided to wait until BassBoom 0.0.2 gets released.

When it got released, we’ve managed to finish the BassBoom documentation, and the new documentation is now available to the public.

Go to the documentation!

The documentation explains how BassBoom works, its features, and its API functions that you can use in your application that plays sound.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead and update your applications to use BassBoom 0.0.2 while consulting its documentation!

Enjoy!
