Forty-nine years ago, on 24 March 1976, the civil-military dictatorship seized power in Argentina. This was the beginning of a dark and sinister period in the region, marked by forced disappearances, torture and murder, the kidnapping of babies and planned misery.
Today, Argentina is undergoing regressive and repressive policies. Those in positions of power spread and create messages of hate. Today, denialism is rampant. The current Argentinian government cut funding for spaces of memory and fired 800 #HumanRights workers. Today more than ever, never again!
We remember Nora Cortiñas of Madres de Plaza de Mayo, a tireless #HumanRights defender. This is the first 24 March without her. Nora dedicated her life to multiplying memory and solidarity, and this is why she will be present at every step of every grassroots mobilisation.
