At this time of year when my thoughts turn north to # Greenland + #fieldwork, I'm especially missing the #Snapplanet app now. It was so damn handy to be able to get the latest #Sentinel2 imagery on your phone.

Following this morning's post by @Ruth_Mottram, I installed #SnapPlanet on my phone and started tinkering with it. I didn't delve any deeper than this yet but it's already been a really cool ride!
This is the Mediterranean in March 2024. The city of Marseille can be seen on the right of the photo, while the mouth of the RhΓ΄ne carries all the sediment that causes this earthy flow in the water, and creates a clear E-W separation.
@Ruth_Mottram That is neat! I just spent half an hour browsing through the iOS app. I found this satellite image of my neighbourhood in infrared on 13 Feb. 2017, when a large fire was burning in the hills by the city.

Do you know about snapplanet.io? I've been playing around on it at the breakfast table, keeping an eye on the #Greenland #glaciers I have instruments on and it's just struck me again how mindblowing it is that I can download and process *on my phone* and for *FREE* a world's worth of high resolution satellite images from #ESA #Sentinel2. The future is amazing.
