Snakeflies (Raphidioptera), also known as camel-neck flies, have gained further notoriety with the selection of the Black-necked Snakefly as Insect of the Year 2022 in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. These diurnal, predatory insects have a striking shape and live only in the Northern Hemisphere. However, these dainty representatives of the Neuropterida are often overlooked.

A funky little fella landed on my arm earlier today.
Apparently these things are called snakeflies (Raphidioptera), a harmless #insect found throughout western North America. Snakeflies are carnivorous and prey on all sorts of pests like aphids, mites, and spiders. Good on you little guy! #snakefly
VickysaurusTwo #Hadrocodium who have made their nest in a patch of moss on a tree are rudely disturbed by a curious #snakefly . Meanwhile a #Tatisaurus has developed a sudden craving for moss.
Hadrocodium isn't even the smallest mammal (or mammaliaform, to be more precise) of all time, but it's pretty close. As for Tatisaurus, it's a quite small basal #Thyreophoran , which I maintain were probably a lot like goats.
