Great vibe on the J line heading towards Dolores. Each stop, another batch of folks get onboard carrying signs in support of SF teachers. There are musical instruments, noise makers, and some early protest chants. #SanFrancisco #SFUSD

1) #TIL that our kiddo's #SFUSD school district allows middle & high schoolers a day of protest or civic action per year.
They just have to tell the school in advance.
2) The district didn't tell kids they had to, but they acknowledge that there is a #shutdown #walkout tomorrow.
3) Kiddo has been off sick but seems to be feeling better. So if she’s okay to tomorrow she can still go to #DoloresPark to protest & have another protest day to use for the next one. 😎

#sfusd parents: do SFUSD chromebooks really not allow imposition of time limits/controls on usage by parents? So we just have to physically take them away if a kid has spent too much time on them? wtaf?
San Francisco must renew & refine its ethnic studies to be inclusive, critical, and grounded, not rushed ideology. A revised curriculum should blend community voice, historical context, and teach how to think, not what to think, says @JohnTrasvina #SFUSD

San Francisco should renew and revise ethnic studies

As we enter the second quarter of the 21st century, our San Francisco high school students need to be equipped not just for today’s colleges and careers but also for changing conditions and circumstances not yet even imagined. Ethnic studies have an important and appropriate place in their education, especially in the current environment where […]

SFUSD’s ethnic studies uses revolutionary language that, ironically, can aid far-right agendas. Radical talk isn’t always progressive. #SFUSD #Fascism #BayAreaPolitics

On the night of May 21, Elias Rodriguez loaded his legally obtained and licensed gun in our nation’s capital and set out for the Jewish Museum, hunting for Jews. He didn’t particularly care which Jews he shot, so long as he bagged some.  Rodriguez went to an American Jewish Committee event for young Jewish and […]

🚨 SFUSD’s ethnic studies course is rolling out without board approval — and with serious concerns over bias & accuracy.

Ex-CA PTA President Carol Kocivar warns: this isn’t education, it’s indoctrination.

Ethnic studies course is a disaster in the making in SFUSD

Should a controversial ethnic studies curriculum be mandated in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) without approval by the board of education? This is not a theoretical question. SFUSD is doing that right now. This is the second year the school district is forcing ninth graders to take the course without formal curriculum approval […]
