🗺️ When you setup a Sophos VM firewall on vSphere and add new interfaces the mappings go out the window.

Here's how to figure out the mappings.

Sophos Firewall Interface Mapping on vSphere

When you deploy a Sophos firewall on VMware vSphere, you start with 3 network interfaces PortA for LAN, PortB for WAN, and PortC is unassigned. In VMware vCenter, PortA is Network adapter 1, PortB is Network adapter 2, and PortC is Network adapter 3. However, when you add more network adapters in VMware vSphere,... Read More Read More

Sophos Firewall Remove GuestAP Interface

By default, Sophos firewalls have a wireless network interface called GuestAP. Normally, this isn’t much of an issue, but if you don’t plan to use Sophos Wireless, it doesn’t make sense to keep the GuestAP network interface. In this post, I will show you step by step how to remove the GuestAP network interface... Read More Read More

Jolla Phone update - lights on, technical bits and the schedule

Hi there, Time for a Jolla Phone update. And it is booting up! As of late last week we got very first functional samples (we call it “CNC sample”) completed with the real mechanics, electronics, the SoC, modem, user-replaceable battery and everything together. Very quickly from there we organised a two-day hackday in Tampere to pull it together, and happy to note that as a result we got it now booting up to the beautiful Sailfish UI! Wow! Technica...

Sailfish OS Forum

Tooting from native #Sailfish app #Tooterß👋 I have to say, I am very suprised. Even as Xperia 10 III is old phone and not top tier when it was published, #SFOS runs super smoothly! I have run to only two bugs, from where only one can be considered bad. 95% of android apps I have tried, work perfectly. Really mature enough to be daily drivable!

Thank you #Jolla!

Just released Jupii 2.16 – the ultimate UPnP/DLNA app for Sailfish OS and Linux desktop.

Release highlight:
- A new Slideshow feature - lets you combine a series of images into a low-framerate video that plays in real time.

…Flatpak would provide mature tool to add directory access permissions, for example. The way you do that on #SFOS (or even disable file sandboxing) is by editing the .desktop file. IMHO, that is ridiculous. I feel some NIH syndrome vibes here.

Good luck and enjoy #SFOS!
I really like the simple #Nextcloud integration for contacts and calendar.

Feel free to ask for help, there are some unexpected issues, but in most cases you can deal with it.

For example when you use Android Apps like #OrganicMaps or #OSMAnd (from #Fdroid), they will not find your GPS-location until you start a native SFOS-App, that accesses GPS, too. 🤔 After that give it a minute and it will work. 😉
