EDIT: solved. The foot shank was not in the correct position. I explained it a bit more in the thread.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on with my sewing machine? I'm losing my mind 😩

I installed the walking foot and started sewing. After a few stitches, the foot started jumping every few stitches (the entire foot, looked like a cricket...). I stopped right away and unmounted the foot. I read online that the jumping can be due to a loose foot screw, so I mounted it again making sure to tighten the screw as tight as it would go. But now the presser foot lever went all the way down, is loose, and I can't do anything. I can raise it, but when I release it, it goes all the way down as if I were lowering the foot, while the foot is still up. It's hard to explain so I'll attach a video.

Hopefully I manage to take it to a repair shop tomorrow but I'm hoping it's something simple and I'm being dumb? I'd appreciate any tips 😭

I can’t seem to cut squares or rectangles of fabric, there’s always a pretty irregular spot that makes matching the edges impossible. This makes it difficult to get neat topstitching on things I’d like to have pretty straight, like straps, or bag edges.
Would a metal L ruler to cut with a rotary cutter help? Other tips for cutting more straight lines?
