Currently staring at my bodice block and trying to figure out how I want to make it into a shirt pattern. It fits beautifully but also it's a Victorian block, so it's not immediately transferable into the sort of comfortable batch production of making a bunch of shirts... There are shirtwaist drafting guides in the old tomes, but I don't really want to re-fit anything... Hm.

Gaze upon my works! A collar, just pinned on, so I'm very careful with how I'm moving! 😹 Fitting GIFs, holy fuck I never want to draft & fit a tightly fitting sleeve ever again!

Holy shit, it's so close! There's some excess height in the sleeve head, since I made ample room for my pointy shoulder in draft number three... But it's so close!
Next up: A break to maintain the flesh vessel, reducing the shoulder excess, moving the button above the bust, determining wrist length and figuring out the neck! Fitting GIFs.

The sleeve mock-ups look lovely and well behaved now, before I've set them into the arm's eyes and they become wrinkled and shronkled and skrinkled.

Keystone Cutter my beloved, you always have me 😭

Latest news on the sleeve front: I've regrettably decided that I want to move the back seam of the two part sleeve higher up, because I like how it intersects with a bodice seam when making jackets, and want the basic sleeve block to have that baked in... There's instructions for how to do this, no issue, but the regrettable part is that I'm gonna have to make a third sleeve mock-up! Might as well make two, so I have both sleeves.

Oh my stars the sleeve pattern is getting closer! 😭 All my work has not been in vain! I'll never make a sleeve that is this snug but it's good for the base pattern to be so I can actually see what's going on, and it's getting closer...
Fitting GIFs.

Legend speaks of cotton sleeves entirely eased onto the arm's eye. I'm almost there and there's reasonable arm mobility, Victorian sleeves are nice, now to get rid of all these blasted wrinkles...
Fitting GIFs!

Tried it on, fussed with the second bust darts a little, opened up the arms' eyes... It's close enough that if it was a normal pattern I'd say good enough, but since it's a bodice block I'll probably need to work on it more... But not right now, I absolutely need to draft and fit the sleeves so I can do Anything Else except fuss with the darts and neck and shoulders. 😅 Fitting gifs.

BEHOLD MY WORKS. 😶 Fitting GIFs behind the veil. I'm still messing with the larger front dart but now the whole bodice feels comfortable on and doesn't get upset from me moving. There's still slight excess on the shoulder that I can pinch out, that a more reasonable person would use padding under. And yet! But it's pretty good. 😄
